Ishita’s work focusses on Portraiture with a commercial career in fashion and advertising. Her approach combines soft, surreal visuals with a sense of sensitivity and technical crispness to seamlessly communicate the story being told.
With an MA in Photography from the University of the Arts, London, she is also known for her performative self-portraits spanning over 12 years. Her practise investigates the construction of identities and rigid dimensions of femininity in urban Indian society. She hopes to create philosophical awareness and a critical line between projected images and reality.
An avid traveler, when not photographing humans you will find her exploring forests or mountains to photograph her favourite subjects – Mother Nature and Wildlife.
Her treatment towards Landscapes draw parallels to her sensitivity towards creating portraits – creating a connection, unveiling personalities, whether it be of a human, lion or a mountain.
